This past year has been a time of change and being taken far away from what we knew as normal. We’ve been through lockdowns, travel restrictions, not being able to use bars and restaurants and much more. We’ve walked around in masks and hardly recognised our friends and acquaintances. Although things are improving, it is going to be quite some time before we see any real sense of ‘normality’ returning and then it may not be the ‘normality’ we were expecting.

This article is, of course, about the Church and Wellspring Church has seen a great deal of change over the past twelve months and knows that there is a lot more to come. At the beginning of last year we sensed God wanted to do something different and we started to pray. We needed to ask what the ‘new thing’ would be. We never suspected that part of the ‘new thing’ would be dealing with all the effects of COVID-19.

This year we were taken to the story of Abraham in Genesis chapter 10 onward. In Chapter 12 and verse 1 we read:

“The Lord had said to Abraham,

“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land

I will show you.”

Abraham was pointed in the right direction, but the final destination was still held as a mystery. The actual place they were heading for was still unknown. All he knew was that he and all his family had to leave the town where he had lived for many years. Abraham had a prosperous business there and moving would have been quite a wrench. For the Church this became a challenge.

Moving from a place of comfort and security is always hard and you need to be certain you’ve got it right. After much deliberation and prayer, we decided to take God at His word and we did this by taking our first step towards God’s promise and terminated the lease on our premises in Puerto de Mazarrón.

Where will the new Church be?

Except for being in this area, we have no idea! We heard God say move out in faith and that is what we have done. All the fixtures and fittings pertaining to the Church are stored in an underbuild and the Church continues to meet online as it has done every week since the end of March last year.

Twelve months ago none of the members of the Church had recorded a sermon, spoke at a communion service or led a time of worship online. We had to learn… fast! Now after twelve months we put out a full service for anyone to watch and this service is watched on a weekly basis in Australia, Canada, Sweden, Denmark and the United Kingdom as well as here in Spain!

We would like to invite you to join us. It is quite easy to find the right page. Just log on to www.wellspringvictorychurch.com and in the right-hand column you will see the link to the latest service. The service lasts about seventy five minutes.

One of the great advantages of being on line is you can watch from the privacy of your own home and you won’t feel under any pressure. If you enjoy the service you can contact us for more information. We would also invite you to pray with us that God will soon reveal the next step to us and that when God speaks we will have the wisdom to know His will and have the courage to follow.
