WELCOME HOUSE
Being Prepared
Derek has a framed tapestry of a Hagar cartoon that our daughter did, saying, ‘I’m going to stop putting things off until tomorrow.’
His mate asks ‘When will you do that?’
He replies ‘The day after tomorrow.’
We smile, but it is just so true.
While said daughter was here with her family for a Sunday gathering we had a power cut that lasted from 10pm until 2pm the following day. The Sunday gathering was somewhat different from what we had planned;
no electric; endless phone calls trying to contact Iberdrola that used up all their charge and also used up the extra power packs that we had between us.
In my mind I thought “It’s ok we don’t need the TV; I can use the lap top.”
You guessed! There was so much going on that I hadn’t made sure it was fully charged!
How did we manage before all of the tech stuff?
Well that morning, God showed us that actually we can worship and praise the Lord without any of it and the morning turned out to be extra special with everyone contributing. Our singing might have been out of tune, but God thinks we sound like opera singers when we are praising Him.
Eventually the cherry picker and lorry with ladders came and put in a new power cable.
I started thinking though about being more prepared in the future. How about you? What if Jesus was to return and I wasn’t prepared? He could do you know; any minute or any second. I can’t bear the thought of my friends and family being left behind because they don’t know Jesus.
Do you know Him?
Have you invited Him into your life, or will you be one of the ones left behind?
