Reflection on a One-Minute Prayer
‘Lord, you have given me prayer warriors and encouragers and examples to follow. Each one provides me with wisdom and the belief I can go further. I eagerly await how You will mold my view of what it means to be Your child.’
There are many discouragements in life, but with the safe knowledge that you are God’s child they can become out of sight and out of mind.
Question – What does it mean to be God’s child?
I am always loved
I am never alone
I am always strengthened
I always have someone to talk to
I need never be afraid
I have been forgiven
I need never worry
All well and good I hear you say, but I’m only human. It’s not that easy not to worry when you are undergoing surgery or lost a loved one, faced with the realisation you are suddenly on your own.
How do I manage then?
We talk about the power of prayer. Recently I experienced two lots of surgery; not monumental in comparison to what others go through. I have to confess I am a WIMP, but never more than on this occasion have I ever experienced what prayer can do.
God held me in His arms and when at the point of not being able to take any more, He strengthened me.
Psalm 16:8-9 says I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand I shall not be shaken, therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices.
This is how we manage to get through whatever is thrown our way, remembering He wants only the best for us and is always at our right hand.
If we as mere mortals want so much for our children, how much more does God want for us.
