The Easy Road
This week my daughter was relating a conversation that she had with my granddaughter who said “I wish I had known at the age of 10 what I know now that I am 14! I would have had so much less to worry about!”
Can you relate to that? I certainly could. If I at 40 had felt as comfortable in my own skin as I do at 70, even though there are more wrinkles now, I wonder how much more I could have achieved.
Just think about the people of Israel when God gave them their freedom from the Egyptians. They assumed they would go straight to the Promised Land, but no! God had other ideas. He needed to instruct and mature them and so He sent them the long way around, through the desert. It only took them forty years, but it prepared the people of Israel for their successful entry to the Promised Land.
God is faithful and we can put our trust in Him. At the time, we may not understand why He is sending us down a particular road, but we can be sure that He will help us to grow in maturity and faith along the way. He will encourage and teach us as we allow Him to direct our path. His timing is always right, so we must wait patiently for Him.
Exodus 13:17 says ‘When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them through the Philistine country, though that was shorter.’
You can be sure that God has a plan for you, but it’s unlikely that it will be a quick-fix job. Don’t turn your back on Him. God is preparing you for greater and more exciting things.
