Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? One of them might have been to do a bit more exercise, or try and improve your Spanish, or visit more of the beautiful region of Murcia. The answer to all of these could be come and join us in WARM. You will see from our programme that we are in full swing with a walk most Saturdays.
When I wrote the last article I deliberately didn’t write about our final walk of 2019. That was for two reasons; it was too close to my deadline for getting this off to the magazine and secondly I knew it would be the only walk I could write about to fit in with the January deadline.
Our final walk was led and organised by David to the top of El Castellar. It is challenging to get to the top, but everyone made it, although there were a few tired legs afterwards. It has become a bit of an annual event and a great way for the group to let their hair down.
It all started off with mulled wine in the car park, thanks to Rick. At the top David provided the cava and his delicious home-made sausage rolls and mince pies. Bob and Bridget and Sue and Allen brought the chocolates. Donna provided the song sheets for the carol singing and according to our President Jessica “Everybody added their piece of spice into the very happy mix of memories that we’re so lucky to be able to carry away with us. It was a truly WARM experience.” To cap it all Rick made a great video which you can watch on YouTube just type WARM El Castellar, Saturday 14/12/2019 into the search bar at the top.
I will not be walking again with the group until the final date in February as we are off travelling in Mexico for six weeks. I will still be contributing to the magazine and keeping in touch with what is going on in WARM. Our association is led by a small committee of five people and we have been active doing a range of things as well as walking. They include:-
- Re-launching our Facebook page and we have enlisted a moderator.
- Working on a logo for the group.
- Developing a guide for walk leaders and a brief outline of what leading a walk is about.
- Starting to plan the 2020 AGM
