The Vista Bar Straight Down the Middle Golf Society – Wednesday 22^nd September – Desert Springs

For September’s monthly Stableford Competition we travelled to the stunning resort of Desert Springs in the Almeria Desert near Mojacar. There was some concern leading up to the day of the competition due to the weather forecast of heavy thunderstorms to cover the whole of the Mediterranean coastline, but after long consultations with the course directors, we were assured that the weather would be fine and that the competition could go ahead. Indeed, we arrived to a bright sunny morning, and sat eating our bacon rolls and drinking coffee in the clubhouse before playing.

Once we set out, the clouds did come over, but there was no rain and we enjoyed what is a course in perfect condition. Well, I say enjoyed! Perhaps I should have said endured, as it proved to be a very tough test of golf!! Our thanks go to all of the staff at Desert Springs for making our day so enjoyable (?!?)
