Well, I hope Christmas went without too many problems! It seems strange to put ‘Christmas’ and ‘problems’ in the same sentence, but 2020 has been a very strange year.

We look forward to the New Year and most people gasp “Well it can’t be any worse than 2020!” – truly an ‘annus horribilis’ as Her Majesty would say.

I suppose in order to appreciate what we have, we need to go through tough times to make a comparison. It’s part of the human condition to make comparisons, to look at events in the light of those which have gone before, even to compare ourselves with others.

Never look back. Live, learn, move on; but we do need to look back. We like to look back on happy times and treasure fond memories as we mentally turn the pages of our ‘Book of Life’. I guess we oldies look back with the words of My Way lingering in the background: ‘Regrets, I’ve had a few, but there again, too few to mention.’

It ain’t over yet! We can still tread new pastures, meet new challenges, rise up and shake off the gloom of old(er) age!

It all depends on our attitude of mind. Are we a half empty or a half full sort of person? You tell me … personally I don’t look on the bright side of life; there’s always something nasty lurking round the corner. Be prepared!

One thing I do know is there IS a Christ who died for me; The Son of God who humbly came to our sad earth and beat even death; even death; something we never think about? Oh yeah, we do! Now and again we come down to earth with a bang, realise our mortality and wonder how and where it will all end.

Hope springs eternal.

I can testify to the hope my Faith gives me. When the chips are down, when I’ve played my final hand, I believe with all my heart there IS a Man; Truly Man; Truly God, who will take my hand with a loving smile and welcome me into a place I do want to go. He has kept me going through the ups and downs of this life, He promises to always be by my side and He is even there when little ol’ me messes up and …

Well, bring on 2021. It can only get better! It all depends what we face it with; our attitude of mind. If you want a confidential chat I am always available. I’ve been round the block a few times!

Bye for now and God bless you. He does, though you may not know it. He certainly wants you to feel that He does.

Happy New Year!
