The Coronavirus or Covid-19 is affecting so many people. As I write, it is bad, but by the time you read this, who knows what the situation will be? People who have the virus are told to self-isolate – not easy, especially for those who live alone. It makes me think of those who have self-isolated all their lives, hidden away from the love of God.

This Eastertide I look at things in a slightly different way; an unexpected and unusual way. We all have a virus – sin. It has infected the world since the dawn of time, causing great pain and suffering, yet God in his infinite wisdom sent a cure; Jesus Christ the Righteous, who lived three years on this earth and did not sin. Oh, He was tempted, but He did not succumb; he did not fall. He kept right on following His Father’s plan – to save us all.

Some embrace this plan; others reject it. That is our free choice. No-one is forced to believe. What would be the point of a creation of ‘Yes people’? Not very satisfying I guess.

The Holy Spirit calls, but few are chosen.

We have to make our own choice.

I struggle with this concept. Why are some called and not others? Some would argue that all are called. Certainly no-one is ever turned away. Is being brought up in a Christian family the answer? Part of it, but surely not the whole picture. Well, one day I will know the full answer; in fact it will be my first question – the place where all will be revealed, Heaven.

I pray this Easter will be a truly blessed time for you, with all your Christmases coming at once – through Palm Sunday to the Cross, to Resurrection Morn.

Hallelujah, what a Saviour!

Happy Easter!
