Do you enjoy singing? Do you play an instrument eg keyboard or guitar? If so, I would love to hear from you as I hope to form a Christian music group in the Calasparra area.

I play drums but it’s kinda lonely playing my Premier drum kit alone, so if you would like to join me, please do get in touch. I have a place to practice and a couple of guitars (one acoustic, one electric) and a keyboard. You don’t have to be good enough to audition for The Voice or play with André Rieu; only want to enjoy yourself and play and sing to bring the love of Jesus – not in a church, but outside where people are. If you don’t fit the bill but know someone who does, then please put them in touch.

Now, turning to Easter, the most important part of the Christian year. As a young man I was a Cadbury rep and we had to offer Easter eggs to shops around September. The comments I got were priceless; many telling me exactly what I could do with my eggs. Some said they would buy them from their wholesaler, little realising that I also supplied the wholesalers, but at much cheaper prices which they hiked for their customers. My weight increased significantly as I drove round munching eggs and big bars of chocolate. Happy days! Well maybe not. I had a tendency to crash company cars – well I was only 19 and thought the world was mine, living in decent hotels with all expenses paid.

I don’t own the world; in fact I don’t own much. Later in life I understood that the world wasn’t created for my personal carefree enjoyment. So why was it created? I often ask myself that, but there again I’m only a human being with very little understanding.

Someone said to me today that churches are full of ceremony and pomp. Yes they are. Some enjoy ceremony and pomp. If it brings comfort, is what they are used to; fine. People wrack their brains trying to form fellowships which could be ‘a different way of doing church’. Personally, churches are the Body of Christ where people meet to worship in the way they are used to; none right, none wrong. It is the people and their leaders who decide that.

Easter may be central in your Christian life or mean nothing. It’s our choice. For me it is not just central but THE centre; Christ suffering on that cruel Cross so that God the Father considers ME righteous. That is a Love I do not understand; just gratefully and humbly accept. Enjoy your Easter, however you wish to celebrate it.

If you would like to know about my Easter services (or any of my Anglican Holy Communion services every Sunday at 11am in my wooden chapel in Calasparra), need a funeral conducting or a Wedding Blessing OR want to join my music group, email me at ahrea2@yahoo.co.uk or call 634 386 179

‘Bye for now and God bless
