THE EXHIBITION “A WORLD OF PAPER” TRAVELS IN JUNE TO THE MUNICIPAL LIBRARY OF MAZARRÓN
The sisters Pepi and Mariam Carvajal, together with José Miguel Ortega, give new life to obsolete books by taking them from textual to visual language
The exhibition is the work of José Miguel Ortega and the sisters Pepi and Mariam Carvajal. It is made up of more than a hundred pieces made from obsolete magazines, newspapers and books, extracted from the purging of libraries. Now, these books have gone from expressing their content through textual language to occupying a space in the analysis of the visual and aesthetic.
In short, these are artistic artifacts built from glue sticks, glue and wire, following the Decoupage technique, which represent figures, municipal monuments and different everyday elements. Regarding the origin of the exhibition, according to Mariam Carvajal, she is in need of finding “something therapeutic” to face an adverse personal situation.
The exhibition can be seen from June 1 to 30 at the Mazarrón Municipal Library (Cultural Centre)
