Venue: El Valle Golf Course
Date: Wednesday September 23rd
It was a bit overcast at 10.45am, but it turned into a beautiful sunny day with a light breeze. The course was in great condition.
There was good turnout with 28 players on the day. A few players turned up unexpectedly much to our secretary’s amazement, which meant there was a shortage of buggies. Fortunately two players volunteered to walk, much to the relief of us all! Well done! You know who you are!
The scoring format was Stableford Full Handicaps.
The winner in Group A, with an outstanding score of 35 points, was Russ Conley and in second place on 32 points was Dave Wainwright.
In Group B the winner was Steve Leason on 42 points and second on 36 points was Dave Hemming.
The Nearest The Pin winner on hole 6 and 12 was Russ Conley. Well done Russ; a sparkling day’s golf.
Scoring was difficult on this challenging course, especially as the greens were quite fast. Well done to all! There were some great golfing performances.
It should be mentioned that Graeme Boyd scored his first ever birdie.
After some liquid refreshment in the Club House the prize giving commenced.
The next golf match at Roda Golf Club on 21st October will be reported on in next month’s Costa Cálida Chronicle.
Our November match will be at La Torre on 24th. We are always pleased to welcome guests, so don’t hesitate to get your friends along to play.
