Due to holidays and other commitments, no report was produced for the January and February outings. Our apologies, but we will add some detail with the March report.

Our first outing of the year was played at Condado Golf Course, on 23rd January. The weather was not conducive to good golfing due to the high winds with many members complaining about conditions and some members decided to end their round early. The hardier ones did stick it out until the end of the round, only to finish in very dim light.

Overall winner John Fisher

There was a 3-way tie for second place between Wyn Griffiths, Ian Stewart, and Terry Haggerty; all on 27 points. The winner was Clive Hathaway with a score of 36 points. This was a remarkable achievement considering the weather.

There were no reported Nearest the Pin winners.

On 27th February, 19 members and 3 guests arrived at the Lorca Resort Golf Club, to blue skies, sunshine and no wind. At last perfect conditions for a good day’s golf. This proved to be the case and back at the 19th hole, almost to a man, the players complimented the course on its condition and the weather, considering the bad day they had had in January.

Nearest the pin winner Andy Eustance

After checking the cards, there was a tie for 3rd place between Wyn Griffiths and Ian Stewart, with a score of 32 points. In second place and one point better than 3rd was Steve Carter. The overall winner with a great score of 38 points was Glen Nicholson (pictured).

Glen also won Nearest the Pin on the 8th hole.

On Wednesday 27th March we were at our home course at Camposol Golf Club. There was a good turnout with 25 members and guests took part. A warm welcome was given to the former Club Captain Jerry Taylor who took part in this game. The weather was near-perfect, if a bit windy at the start.

There were two Nearest the Pin prizes which were won by Andy Eustance (pictured) and Glen Nicholson.

Some good scores were posted by the top three golfers and with a great score of 36 points the winner was John Fisher (pictured), closely followed by Steve Carter on 35 points and John Charlesworth with 34 points.(The Three Bandidos). Their handicaps will be suitably adjusted in accordance with our new rules which were revised at the recent AGM.
Our sincere thanks go to Camposol Golf Club and all the staff. It’s always a good challenge of golf, particularly the back 9 holes and the notorious 17th.

Our treasurer Richard Dawson appealed to all members who have not yet done so to pay their Annual subscriptions. At the recent AGM we are pleased to report that vacant posts were filled as follows:
Chairman – Norrie Bull
Club Captain – Wyn Griffiths
Press Officer – Ian Stewart.
