The Straight Down the Middle Golf Society played their January competition at El Valle Golf. It was an early start on a cold Wednesday morning that greeted 28 of us at El Valle. Unfortunately our tee times were such that the bar had not opened by the time we arrived, so we had to forego a warming cup of coffee and a brandy to get us on our way.
The course was in great condition – as always, but the scoring on the front nine, for almost everyone, was difficult (probably due to the lack of coffee!). However, as the day warmed up so did the scores, resulting in new members to the society taking first and second place in Section A.
It would be good if we could attract some more female golfers, so that we could run a separate section for them too. Our thanks go out to El Valle for accommodating our ever increasing numbers at short notice, and for the course providing a great challenge.
