For May’s Society Day we decided to try something a little different from our normal Stableford Competition. Having missed our previous meeting due to have been held at Lorca in April due to thunderstorms, we were a little short on numbers for our visit to Hacienda. Consequently, we decided to have a Texas Scramble Competition to get us all back into the swing of things. As usual the course at Hacienda was in great condition and proved a stiff challenge. With a stiffening breeze picking up throughout the day, it made the course play even longer.
At the end of the day it was the team of Paul Allsop, Terry Haggerty, Pete Smithson and Mike Wheeler that came out on top with a very respectable net score of 78. Congratulations!
We also had our Nearest the Pin Competition on Holes 5 & 12. Jim Niblo won the title for Hole 5, but unfortunately Hole 12 evaded us all.
Our next competition was on Wednesday 23rd June at La Torre when we reverted to our normal Stableford Competition (report in the August magazine).
