April found the Straight Down the Middle Golf Society visiting Saurines de la Torre golf course near Roldan. It was disappointing to find that the Clubhouse bar was no longer open, so we had to get a coffee from a machine in the Spar shop next door. Mind you, our disappointment cannot be anything like what the residents of the urbanisation are experiencing, as that was their only bar on the whole site. Nonetheless we set off with hope in our hearts for an enjoyable round of golf.
As always the course was an interesting mixture of quite forgiving fairways and rough, but very testing greens and bunkers. One new member disappeared into the bunker front left of the 16th green never to be seen again!! All in all we had an enjoyable day, and our thanks go to all the staff of Ugolf Saurines de la Torre for providing us with a challenging day.
As usual we adjourned to The Trevi Bar on Camposol for light refreshments and chip butties. Our thanks go to the management and staff for making us so welcome.
