Straight Down The Middle Golf Society
February 24th @ Altaona
For our February outing on Wednesday 24th February we travelled to Altaona Golf Club within the Mosa Trajectum urbanization. The course is currently set out as a nine hole course, but the owners are expanding it to 18 holes. Hopefully this will be completed by the end of 2021. There are already 2 new holes ready to be played. We would like to thank the team at Altaono for their hospitality and for making us feel most welcome.
The weather for our visit was overcast and a bit chilly in the morning, so a hot coffee was order of the day upon arrival, but it brightened up for the afternoon. For the competition we played the 9 holes twice and then some of us played the extra 2 new holes after our round had finished. Some good scores were recorded, even though the greens were quite challenging at times and the water claimed quite a few balls!
As usual we played a Stableford Competition and Group A was won by Brian Tape scoring 39 points with Jim Niblo in 2nd place with 34 points. Group B was won by Wyn Griffiths scoring 36 points with Gary LeMoignan in 2nd place with 34 points.
Nearest the Pin Competitions were won by Dave Baxter on Hole 3 and Jim Niblo on Hole 17.
