Recently, in a local restaurant we watched and listened as a very young boy kept pointing to various things around the room, then asking his mummy, “What’s that?”  Each time she very patiently answered her son.

This made me wonder at what age, if ever, do we stop asking “What’s that?” Hopefully the answer is never. We all know the saying that every day is a school day, as there should always be something to learn, something that will interest us and keep our minds alert. The sad thing is that these days, so many people, not just the young, have gone from “What’s that?” to What’s App!

This leads me nicely on to the next part of my article.

The church home group is restarting in September after the August break and have decided to invite everyone to join them to go through a course produced by J. John that’s called Just 10.
Just 10 is a ten-session series to explain the Ten Commandments and their relevance today. In the course we are invited to consider the issues at the heart of each of the commandments. In a relevant and humorous way, J. John unpacks Just 10 to help us see how each of us can live by these timeless principles today, so that we can live life to the full.

We will be meeting EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY at 2.00pm at ST NICHOLAS CHURCH, starting from 20th September. Each week there will be a 30 minute video about one of the commandments followed by a time to discuss its meaning for us today. And of course, we’ll also enjoy cake and tea or coffee!

If you would like to come, please let Bob Baker know (bcbaker@sky.com) so we can make sure there’s enough cake!
Whether you are a Christian or not (maybe you’re just interested in having a good look at the ten commandments), you will be made welcome, to contribute to the discussion, or just listen!

Don’t forget that you are all invited to our Community Coffee Mornings, which take place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, here at the church. These being the 13th and 27th of September between 10am-12.30pm. We look forward to seeing those who have joined us before and all new comers too.

All our English speaking services are held at 11am each Sunday.
