Often we remark about time flying. That is definitely the case for all of us here at our Church.  On 6th October 2002, our first service as St Nicholas Ecumenical Church took place as we became the first official Church on Camposol.  So much has happened, with changes, both in location and people, but always moving forward.

We began in Len and Rosemary Eaton’s underbuild on Camposol A.  Over the years many fundraising events took place with the hope of having our own Church building. Perhaps some readers will remember attending a few of them. They began with Bingo and Beetle Drives, progressing to Boot Fairs, Barn Dances, Poem and Pint evenings, BBQ’s etc, but definitely the most successful of all, were the shows!  Again, these started out in the same underbuild, later to be held in Kennelly’s on Camposol B, providing more space.  Eventually, after 11 years, we were able to purchase our present-day Church building on Camposol D. A huge thank you to anybody who has contributed over the intervening years, in any way, enabling us to still be here, twenty years later.

We will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary with a service of Holy Communion on Sunday 9th October. All are warmly invited to mark this happy occasion, so please join us if you can.

It so happens, we are also holding three Shows of Nostalgia this month. They will be on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th October at 7.30pm, with a matinee at 2.30pm on Wednesday 12th. Please join the Singalong Group for an evening (and afternoon) of songs we remember from shows and our younger days.  We look forward to seeing and hearing you all there.
