Friday 3rd March – Sunday 5th March. We commemorate la Exención de Villazgo with a programme to celebrate this important date for Huèrcala residents. 

Between March 3rd to 5th, the Historical Recreation and Baroque Market will take place in Plazas de la Constitución, Cura Valera and nearby streets. An activity that will set the historic camp in Baroque era with the aim of showing Huèrcalians and visitors how life and society used to be and its history, to allow us to understand the environment that through common effort, achieved its long awaited independence. 

The 3 day programme includes dancing, folk music, exhibitions and the market.

Tuesday 21st March – Dia de la Vieja – Day of the Old Women
This festival has popular roots dating back to the 17th Century.
It was started as a day of brotherhood with religious connotations and has become an endearing and family event. The town is practically emptied and a meal is made in the field accompanied by games and songs. The main protagonist of this event is ‘la vieja’ which are made of paper and filled with candies. These are broken into after the meal, ensuring that everyone, especially the little ones enjoy this special day.
