Las Ermitas Walking Path Encircling Lorca Castle
This new 9km walking route connects the entire perimeter of Lorca Castle, starting in Parque de las Mujeres, ending at the San Lázaro viewpoint. The new walkway provides a picturesque and healthy walking route with freshly planted pine and oak trees and plants such as lavender and rosemary. Stairs built with sleepers and wooden railings make it easy for walkers to see beautiful views of Lorca and the surrounding area. Parking is available at the Parque de las Mujeres, Calle Sor Matilde García.
For families with children – The old town of Lorca hides a lot of history. Get ready for a fun visit full of surprises with your family every 1st Saturday of the month at 5pm March-May and October-December; 8pm June-September.
Monday Saturday 3rd, Thursday 9th & Sunday 11th June (5pm) – 2hr Guided Tour of Historic Lorca. The tour includes a free visit to one of the Embroidery Museums which exhibits items worn during Semana Santa processions. 2€. 11.30am.

This epic 3 days is one of fun and partying until the early hours (and beyond!)
Various events are held:
Medieval Market that fills the streets of the old town with different craft stalls.
Medieval Tournament and the grouping of the Moorish and Christian factions in their respective barracks, will parade to the rhythm of the music through the streets of the town wearing their spectacular costumes. The event starts on the Friday evening with blunderbuss firers and gathering of the troops on the edge of the ‘pueblo’, before making their way to the village. Saturday sees the battle between two sets of troops on the ‘playa’ and includes belly dancing, horsemanship, a medieval tournament and procession to the Parque Comercial to be joined by entertainers. The evening ends back in the‘pueblo’ where the party continues until the early hours. Sunday is normally back to the ‘playa’ in the afternoon followed by the spectacular procession in the ‘pueblo’ late afternoon/ early evening. Thursday 23rd June – Bonfires of San Juan on the beach.
It is a magical evening in which the whole town gathers on the beach to welcome summer. Descargador Beach is chosen for the celebration, with various activities for all audiences and the making of numerous bonfires and a large festival that the whole family can enjoy. This celebration unites everyone around the fire as a symbol of the purification of the soul at the beginning of a new cycle – out with the bad!
Saturday 1st July – Noche de Romantica (Night of Romance)
This initiative is promoted by the Association of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain and is held simultaneously in more than 300 towns in France, Italy, Japan, Belgium, Lebanon, Russia, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Each town is considered of special beauty for their natural and monumental heritage.
5,000 balloons decorate the village, people dress in their best clothes, restaurants have special menus and the day is filled with music with different concerts after having produced the premiere of a commemorative video of the event in all the towns at the same time that it pays tribute to the peculiarity of these beautiful municipalities. The ringing of the church bells commence at midnight followed by fireworks.
