Foreigners From 13 Countries Can Request Their Registration In The Electoral Census Until 15th January

International reciprocity agreements will allow citizens from the following countries to vote in the 2019 local elections:

Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, New Zealand, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Korea, Iceland and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Electoral Census Office has begun to send letters to foreign residents in Spain to inform them of the registration period in the electoral census until January 15th. To exercise their right to vote, they must be of legal age and comply with the established conditions. These conditions, with the exception of Norway, are to be in possession of the residence permit in Spain and to have resided legally and uninterruptedly for at least the five years prior to their application for registration in the electoral census. They must also be registered in the municipal register of their habitual residence, where they can exercise the right to vote. In the specific case of Norway, you must have resided in Spain, legally and uninterruptedly, for more than three years.

Those who meet all the conditions of the agreement will either receive a password so that they can register in the electoral census online, or they must register in the electoral census by post, providing a valid document that justifies the authorization of residence in Spain or a residence certificate issued by the General Commissariat of Foreigners and Borders, which can be obtained in any police dependency. Registration can also be done by going to the town council where you are registered.

Art Exhibition (until 18th January) – The Exhibition Hall of the Universidad Popular in the Avda de la Constitucion in Mazarrón hosts one of the most relevant exhibitions in recent years. The exhibition shows private collections of the Mazarrón painter Miguel García Vivancos.

Miguel García Vivancos travelled in his adolescence to Barcelona. Committed to the rights of workers, he joined the CNT with positions of responsibility on the Republican side. After the Civil War he had to emigrate to France. It was in the mid-twentieth century when his artistic expression was born, later becoming an influential naive style artist. He met Picasso and learned from other great Masters. His work was exhibited in Paris, Basel, Rome, Rabat and Zagreb. His paintings hung on the walls of rooms of François Mitterrand, while he went unnoticed by the general public. He returned to Spain to live his last days in Cordoba.
