On Friday, February 25, the users of the Day Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities in Mazarrón made a guided tour of the Antonio Paredes Museum in Mazarrón. The museum is dedicated to the mines and the history of the municipality, housing authentic jewels and handicrafts made by Antonio Paredes himself. You can see the recreation of a mine, a tribute paid to the last Mazarrón miners, utensils, old documents and recreations of an old barbershop, grocery store, kitchen, etc. For the visitors it was a very pleasant and interesting morning, and we thank Antonio for preserving these jewels of the municipality and for the affection with which he treated us.

Weekend of waves at The Bahía Junior Series Surf Championship 3rd Edition. 

At the end of February the Bahía de Mazarrón Beach hosted the third edition of the “Bahía Junior Series 2022” surfing event. This championship ended with magnificent wave conditions where more than 60 junior surfers from the national territory were once again able to show their skills riding the waves.In the words of José María Cascales, organizer of the championship together with Mazarrón City Council, concluded that it was a competition with a very high participation and a complete success.

Mazarron enjoys the II Spanish BMX Cup

Also towards the end of February, Mazarrón hosted the II BMX Cup of Spain that was presented by the Mazarrón City Council through the Department of Sports and is organized by the Club Pro-Bike Mazarrón and in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia. The Mazarrón Sports Complex was the venue for this event during two intense days. The trophies were presented by Gaspar Miras, Mayor of Mazarrón and Raquel Raja, Councillor for Tourism.

Children’s Workshops

Carnival was celebrated in our Municipality, and during this week the young ones were able to enjoy the children’s Carnival workshops in the libraries. In these workshops organized by Mazarrón City Council, the boys and girls enjoyed learning how to make masks that they were  able to use in the Carnival

Colour, magic and joy in the election gala of muses and muses and carnival person of the year

With great enthusiasm and emotion they collected their scepters from the hands of the Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, and the Councillor for Celebrations, Miguel Ángel Peña. The sports pavilion of La Aceña hosted the Election Gala of Muses and Muses and Carnival person of the year with a practically full capacity. For an hour and a half it was possible to enjoy the performance of the different dance schools of the Municipality: De Rosa, Antonio Jara and Ana Ruiz Dance and Fitness Club, who dazzled as always with their wonderful choreographies. Following the Election Gala the two Mazarrón Carnival 2022 parades took place with Saturday afternoon seeing the Children’s Carnival and on Sunday the Adults parade. A weekend full of fun, colour and imagination. Long live the Carnival!

The first level hosts the chapter house that refers to the lands of Totana; the Order of Santiago. The second level is the choir of the church, which shows the Mudejar coffered ceiling of the temple and the explanation of its chapels. The next level is known as ‘the bride’s room’, which was the old house of the bell ringer. The fourth level cannot be visited as it contains the current clock. The last level is the bell tower, where the second oldest bell of the Diocese is located, dating from 1470. 10am
