Percussion Festival
Thursday 2nd September @ Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural CentrePedro Estevan, one of the world leaders in ancient percussion and a regular collaborator of Jordi Savall will be accompanied by Emilio Saura and Andrés Navarro.
Friday 3rd September on the Luzzy stage, Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Centre, a concert by José Luis Tebar & Javier Herrero – a sonic adventure manned by Tibetan bowls, gongs and electronic music.
Saturday 4th September @ Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Centre, Alejandro Solano who was awarded the Filón award for the best instrumentalist in the 2019 International Festival of Cante de las Minas de La Unión.
Sunday 5th September in El Batel auditorium – Concert by students, teachers and guest artists of the festival.
Free IX International Film Festival @ Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Centre
This is an international festival in which up to 42 countries participate. The festival is divided into three different sections: short films, animation shorts, and feature films. Up to 42 different countries are participating. 19 short films will be screened: 13 from Spain; 2 from France and the others from Mexico, Luxembourg, the United States and Austria.
September 10th – 18th– Flamenco Week ‘Perlas a Millares’
This special week includes the National Contest of Cante por Cartageneras , the Concurso de Letras por Cartageneras’ Ginés Jorquera, National Dance Competition for Taranto , the Flamenco Festival , an introductory course to Flamenco, an Exhibition of Flamenco Letters and a Painting Exhibition.
The success of Flamenco activities in Cartagena, their teaching at the University, the Conservatory and Private Academies and the fans that support the Peña Flamenca Antonio Piñana, make us understand that the Cartagena can offer Flamenco art as part of its musical wealth.
Training and Outreach Activities
Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th September – Approach to Flamenco and its styles by the Cácere-born cantaora Raquel Cantero and philosopher and expert in Flamenco, José Martínez.
Tuesday 14th September – Agustín Garnés and El Truco will give an introductory workshop on clapping and Flamenco compás and on Thursday 16th September – advanced level workshop on clapping and Flamenco compás.
Friday 10th& Saturday 11th September – Semi-Finals in the garden of the Municipal Archaeological Museum
Friday 17th September – final, at the Faculty of Business Sciences (former CIM).
Saturday 18th September – the Flamenco Festival when the album ‘Las Letras del Arte’ Jondo by Ginés Jorquera will be presented. Raquel Cantero and Antonio Canales will perform accompanied by the singers David El Galli and Moi de Morón with guitarist Paco Iglesias. Also the winner of the II Cartageneras Ginés Jorquera National Letters Contest will be awarded.
Flamenco In The Streets
Exhibitions have been organized to take Flamenco throughout the city such as El Molinete, Las Puertas de Murcia or Calle Canales. Flamenco lyrics by Ginés Jorquera will be installed so that passers-by can read them whilst walking. There will be QR codes to download onto mobile devices to listen to the voice of different cantaores.

From Thursday 9th September, the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Centre will host an exhibition of Flamenco Painting by Pedro Juan Rabal.

Intimate concerts in unpublished formats, with the sky as the only limit to enjoy the best music. The Terrace of the Wall of El Batel is the venue for four concerts starring great female voices: Bely Basarte, Annie B. Sweet, Marta Soto and Tulsa.

Since she posted her first videos on YouTube, Bely established herself as one of the songwriters with the most subscriptions on her channel and one of the most beloved stars of Spanish acoustic indie-pop.
Saturday 11th September – Anni B. Sweet
Anni released her first album, ‘Start, Restart’ in 2009. She published her fourth album in 2019 and the first in Spanish, which is entitled Universo por premiere.
Friday 24th September – Marta Soto, one of the artistes with her own personality and a warm and charismatic voice.
Saturday 25th September – Tulsa concert with Miren Iza – punk-rock and surf group sung in English. In 2002 Miren Iza began to write songs in Spanish, emotional narratives with an American folk rock aftertaste.

Saturday 25th September – The Cartagena group Arde Bogotá will be the headliner of the concert at the Paco Martín auditorium in Parque Torres.
