After the death of her second husband, Bernarda imposes a rigorous 8-year mourning period on her five daughters, forcing them to be totally isolated from society. Within this oppression, Angustias, her eldest daughter, becomes engaged to Pepe El Romano. This triggers the main theme: authority versus the desire for freedom. Adela, the youngest daughter, has a secret relationship with Pepe, which causes a conflict that leads to a tragic end.

XLIX Floral Games of the Campo de Cartagena in La Palma & XXVIII National Youth Poetry Contest

Single prize of €1,300 and a Natural Flower will be awarded to the best poetic composition on the single theme ‘El Viaje’ with a minimum length of 75 verses and a maximum of 175. 

12-14 years old – a diploma and 400€.

15-18 years old – a diploma and 600€.

The texts presented, of a creative nature, must be strictly original and unpublished and in Spanish. The theme will be free, with a minimum length of 14 verses and a maximum of 100.

The winning authors will attend a ceremony on Saturday 13th May and the winner of each category will read the winning work.

Carmen Conde ordered in her will the donation, in favour of Cartagena City Council, of furniture and decorative objects in the living room,hall and office from her house at C/Ferraz, 67 in Madrid. This heritage has now been reproduced, trying to reconstruct the environment in which Carmen Conde and Antonio Oliver created as part of their important work.
