57th Army Awards (until 31st May)
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the completion of the Baler Site. The contest consists of: drawing, painting, military miniatures, photography, school education and research in humanities and social sciences. As a novelty this year, a contest of short videos has been included. The Army Awards are currently the most outstanding cultural initiative of the Army. They were started in 1945 and are intended to promote the artistic and literary creation referred to the multiple activities of the Army in the framework of the Armed Forces. National or foreign authors whose works reflect activities developed by the Spanish Army within the framework of the Armed Forces can enter and those works that reflect the knowledge and dissemination of military life.
Art Exhibition ‘Muses’ (until 31st May) in the Nicomedes Gómez Hall of the Consistorial Palace showing exceptional painted paintings of the god Apollo and the Muses Calíope and Terpsícore as well as the Emperor Heliogabalus. After several months exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid and the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, The Palace of Cartagena (the city of origin) now hosts these magnificent paintings and murals.
XXII ‘Between Strings and Metals’ competition organized by the Department of Youth and Conservatory of Music of Cartagena @ Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena.
The Awards’ Ceremony and the Closing Concert will be held on May 17th at 8pm in the Batel Auditorium and Conference Centre.

This year various associations and NGOs working with refugees or migrants collaborate, such as Accem, Proyecto Abraham, Amnesty International, Cepaim, La Botica del Libro, Rascasa, Al Raso, the Federation of Neighbourhood Associations of Cartagena and Region, the councils of Youth, Equality, Sports, Social Services and Culture, the Popular University or the Refugium project of the University of Murcia.
