Art Exhibition by Virginia Bernal @ Municipal Hall of the Byzantine Wall (until 21st April)
The exhibition by the artist from Cartagena, with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Valencia, is based on memories. Her works are acrylics on canvas, acrylics, watercolour and sculptural supports combined with photographic techniques such as cyanotype and rubber bichromate.

Resembling a lighthouse with an international projection, the Eiffel Tower is the subject of visits and passionate pilgrimages. This Iron Lady receives the same generosity to those who travelled from distant countries as those who came from a Parisian district.

Wednesday 27th March – Night of Literature – L’amant/The lover.
This is a cultural event where books and reading are the protagonists; a perfect time to share the magic of words and cultures. The readings and interventions in Spanish and in French, has an intercultural dialogue that allows to share different views about great French literary works. This autobiographical novel by one of the greatest French writers of the 20th century, Marguerite Duras, published in 1984, won the prestigious Goncourt Prize and was translated into 43 languages.

Friday 8th March – Concert of Stringed and Brass Instrucments @ Auditorium and Convention Centre the Batel 8.30pm 
The winner of the X String and Brass Competition, Ana Mba Flores. The violist from Granada together with the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra will pay tribute to Clara Schumann, a 19th century German pianist and composer, world premiering the arrangement of her work ‘Piano Trio OP. 17’ adapted  for symphonic orchestra by Gines Martinez Vera. In addition, the ‘Concert for Viola and Orchestra’, by Hoffmeister and the ‘Symphony No 3’, by Mendelssohn will be performed.

Museum of the Roman Theatre:
Guided Route: Cartagena Under The Pumps Of Hitler 11.30am 10€ (5€ Club Cartagena Port of Cultures)
Interesting route explaining the armament used by the Republican side and National side from Italy, Germany and Russia on Spanish soil. See weapons and gas masks from Europe and Russia. This route will go through the Refugio galleries and the great rooms of the Historical Military Museum. The route ends with a gastronomic tasting.

XXVIII Poetry Contest of the Centre for Women & XXII Painting Contest Angel Flores (until 9th March)
The Poetry Competition is open to those who have not published a book of poetry. The deadline is February 25th 2019.
The Painting Competition is aimed at people over 18 years residing in the Region of Murcia, using any pictorial technique in full colour. Each entrant may submit up to three works from January 4th to March 4th 2019.

1st prize 300€ and 2nd prize 150€ and trophy for both competitions. The winners will be announced on March 9th at 8.30pm, at the Social Centre, Urbanization Mediterranean. 

Trinidad García 3rd Children’s Drawing Contest (until 29th March)
The theme is the natural region of Campo de Cartagena, ‘Our Field’.
This will bring together more than 1,400 drawings. Children can sign up through email or school. Participants can choose prizes ranging from laptops, tablets, drawing materials, painting and crafts, sound equipment and excursions. The prizes will be awarded in several categories:
collective, individual and special and will be presented on April 28th.

Concert series of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia in El Batel, Cartagena

Sunday 12th May – Violinists Laura Rodriguez & Isabel Villanueva – Sinfonia Concertante for Violin & Viola by Mozart. The Orchestra with conductor Virginia Martinez will close the concert with Symphony No 104 ‘London’ by Hayden.

Thursday 23rd May – The Orchestra and Pianist Joaquin Achucarro – Concerto for Piano & Orchestra by Grieg. The concert will end with poems Mi Patria by Smetana.
