Although the vaccine programme in our region is proceeding well, all Green Fingers workers will observe strict social distancing guidelines and hygiene standards for the time being in order to keep everyone safe. This month, our Maintenance Team have continued the rota of weeding and spraying all streets of ‘C’ North. The phenomenal weed growth during this season is making it a very long job; if we don’t get to your road as often during the Summer, please bear with us. They have also retrieved the broken statues which were pushed over the wall by vandals (despite being secured with rebar and cement). Please, if you see anything untoward, don’t hesitate to let us know, in strictest confidence of course.

The Volunteers this month have been collecting garden waste and plants from residents, planting and continuing the mammoth tasks of watering and weeding all the overgrown planted areas and verges. If you would like to weed anywhere near your house, it would be really appreciated – every little helps, as they say. We were joined by new 16 year old volunteer Kaden, who kindly worked on his day off from school, but we would welcome more folks who are on Lower C and who can spare a couple of hours on a Wednesday morning. Just come along to the Welcome Wall on the dual carriageway at 9am – drinks, biccies, Val’s lovely cakes and breakfast butties are free!

We would like to say a huge thank you to The Welcome Inn, El Pareton, for hosting a twisted tapas afternoon in aid of Green Fingers; the tapas were delicious, served in a really friendly atmosphere and the restaurant donated part of their profits, together with the proceeds of the raffle, to our funds.
