Holiday time is here again and everyone (including local businesses and organisations) are very relieved to see people returning to Camposol. The knock-on effect of the restrictions has meant there were no fund-raising events to supplement Green Fingers’ funds and the Bucket Collections dwindled. However, it’s lovely to see people stopping at our buckets again and donating; many thanks!
Our Maintenance Team continued their rota this month of sweeping, spraying and clearing the streets on Lower C.
This month our Wednesday Volunteers have been spending much of their time watering. They have also been dead-heading, weeding and trimming trees and clearing scrub from the verges near the new Age Concern house on the dual carriageway, in preparation for its opening. We welcome new volunteer Senne to our group, who joins Jaden here during their school holidays and would like to invite anyone interested in volunteering with us to come down to the Welcome Wall on Camposol C at 9am on Wednesdays: a free breakfast is on offer!
Unfortunately this month we have to say goodbye to John and Pete; Wednesday volunteers and members of both our Maintenance Team and committee for many years (John has also been our Treasurer). They began their own small gardening and handyman business this year, which we are happy to recommend and they leave to devote more time to it. We wish them every success for the future and offer our thanks for all the long (and extra!) hours they devoted to us. The position of Treasurer is assumed by our Secretary, Jayne, and we welcome her to the new role. We also welcome our new Maintenance Team members; Alan and Kevin.
