As we say goodbye to the summer months, we wish to say a heartfelt thank you to all of our wonderful shop Volunteers who toil away tirelessly, especially in the heat of the summer. Our charity shop continues to remain busy and whilst our call volume has reduced slightly, it remains above pre-pandemic levels, with September being the quietest month for over a year.

We also wish to say a thank you to all of our amazing Listeners for their sterling efforts throughout the last 18 months. It has been hard work, but we have got through it together. Thank you all. Without you we would not be able to provide this much-needed service.

3rd-9th October was Mental Health Awareness Week and 10th October was World Mental Health Day. We had several events going on in the Valencia region. However, if you were around The Food Co in Mazarrón on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th you would have seen our Treasurer and his wife, Ade & Jo Webster, who are local to the area, raising awareness in the Murcia region.   A huge thank you to The Food Co for allowing us to be there, to their staff for looking after us (especially to Tina who made Ade a much-needed coffee on Sunday!) and a huge thank you to everyone who stopped to talk to us and of course to those that donated.

Sunday 10th October also saw us holding an awareness and fundraising event at La Nueva Taberna, Mazarrón Country Club, kindly organised by Michelle Miles, the first event in their newly refurbished function room.  The 60’s themed night was headlined by The Starbeats, a brilliant Beatles tribute band and supported by the lovely solo artist Melissa Jade. Our host for the evening was our very own Stevie Spit BEM, our wonderful Patron.  The evening featured a small auction, where Stevie was in his element. That alone raised €281 and the total raised from the event was an amazing 1184.76€. Everyone was so generous and we cannot thank you enough. Whilst the purpose was to raise awareness, without funds we cannot provide our service and any help we get, however small, may just save a life. A huge thank you to everybody involved in donating their time to make this such a fabulous evening. A hugely successful event and hopefully the first of many.
