Our phonelines continue to be busy, we’ve received nearly 700 contacts so far this year. Sadly, we are seeing an increase month on month so far this year with the main worries being the conflict in the Ukraine and Covid. Our dedicated team of listeners continue to provide their time to ensure that this invaluable service can continue.
We held a World Book Day 2022 Coffee Morning towards the end of April which included a Tombola as well as tea and coffee. As well as our normal charity shop there was a homemade cake stall which went down well! The World Book Day provided a display of not only the usual fiction books and non-fiction books, but other specialist books for sale including biographies, autobiographies, cookbooks, hobbies, and other books of interest. We also had books in foreign languages available. See next months issue for a report.
At the beginning of March, we donated excess stock to the Ukrainian people. The Board of Trustees would like to thank Les, our Income Generation Retail Trustee, the Shop Supervisors, and lovely ladies – Sheila, Ann C, Ann J, Helen, Sue B, Moira, and Tina from the Samaritans in Spain charity shop at Punta Prima, for collecting clothes, blankets, towels etc that are going to be sent to one of the support centres in Poland and given to Ukrainian people in need.
For those of you in need of offloading, or if you know someone who needs to offload, Samaritans in Spain lines are manned from 10am – 10pm every day of the year and our fully trained listeners are available if you need to talk. Remember we are here for you and together we are stronger – the number to call is FREEPHONE 900 525 100.
Are you able to help Samaritans in Spain to help others?
