Our phone lines continue to be busy and we`ve received over 920 contacts so far this year. Sadly we continue to see an increase month on month. Our dedicated team of listeners continue to provide their time to ensure that this invaluable service endures and our dedicated shop volunteers continue to provide their time to allow the organisation to function. We couldn’t do it without you all. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers.

Justabar in L’Albir made sure that it was a very Good Friday for Samaritans in Spain as they raised the magnificent sum of 751€ on our behalf. Tracey and Ritchie very kindly organised an Easter Raffle and spent several weeks leading up to the draw selling tickets – clearly, they were very good at it! Our Vice President, Les Holloway and local listener, Sian Miller, were on hand to help with the ticket folding and attend the draw. Samaritans in Spain would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who participated and to Tracey and Ritchie for organising. This money will allow us to continue to help others and every cent will be put to very good use.

It was great to have a Coffee Morning for the first time in two years, on St George’s Day at Punta Prima. It was highly successful as it fell in with our World Book Day Event. It was well attended and the grand sum of €701 was raised by the shop, coffee morning and tombola. It was lovely to see several of our listeners attending and supporting the day. Thank you to all the volunteers who worked hard to make the day a success.
Donation:
We were recently the lucky recipients of a very kind donation of €250 from a lady who has had call to contact us on a few occasions. She emailed us:
I should be sending you a certificate of thanks for ‘outstanding, invaluable contributions to general well-being’. I have turned to you a number of times in the past 6 years and the impact of ‘off-loading’ onto poor you is priceless. There are things we can never tell anyone – largely through shame about being so weak in my case – and each time I have been in touch, I come away with a totally fresh, positive outlook and felt like a new person. This is NO mean achievement on your part as I only write when I hit rock – bottom, which I had again recently. I am so grateful to you all.
I felt that we should share this with you all as this is what our service can do to those that just need help. If you think off-loading would help you, or if you know someone who needs to offload, Samaritans in Spain lines are manned from 10am-10pm every day of the year and our fully trained listeners are available if you need to talk. Remember we are here for you and together we are stronger, the number to call is FREEPHONE 900 525 100.
