As another month rolls by and it hardly seems possible that Christmas is almost upon us. This year seems to have passed by very fast. Our call volumes remain quite high, but October has been a little quieter than the rest of the year. As always, our dedicated team of Listeners are working extremely hard to continue to ensure that this invaluable service endures and our dedicated shop Volunteers continue to provide their time to allow the organisation to function. We could not do it without you all. Thank you to all.

International Mental Health Awareness Day saw our Tapas Trail at Playa Flamenca Citrus Centre on Saturday 8th October – all in support of raising awareness of the service we offer. Thanks to the culinary skills of the six bars that participated, visitors were able to enjoy a wide variety of delicious tapas whilst showing their support for Samaritans in Spain.
And did they support us….

Our Tombola was cleared out of prizes by 4pm – something that has never happened before! We filled sheet after sheet with names for our Teddy and completed five Football Cards. Overall, thanks to the generosity for those who came along, we managed to raise a grand total of €532.88; not bad for four hours of fundraising! We would like to offer our gratitude to each and every one who came along on the day and to all the bars that participated.

Meanwhile at The Food Co in Mazarrón, our Treasurer Ade Webster, had a stall on two separate days during Mental Health Awareness Week, chatting to many people, handing out fliers and cards and raising just over €67 in the collection tin. A big thank you to everyone that he saw and to The Food Co and the staff.
Our Walk Tall Bare All campaign continues. Our current call data for 2022 shows that of the calls received so far this year, approximately two thirds have been from females and only one-third from males. We are hoping that our campaign will encourage males to call us more readily.
If you think off-loading would help you, or if you know someone who needs to offload, Samaritans in Spain lines are open from 10am-10pm every day of the year and our fully trained Listeners are available if you need to talk. Remember we are here for you and together we are stronger.
The number to call is FREEPHONE 900 525 100.
