Fly-Tipping
A definition of fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste onto land that does not have an environmental permit. It includes but is not limited to, general household waste, white goods, mattresses, garden refuse and commercial waste such as builders’ rubble, clinical waste and tyres.
Illegal dumping is a persistent problem that costs money and creates a bad impression of the area; aesthetic value of the local community is diminished, often resulting in reduced property prices and loss of community pride.Dump sites also serve as magnets for additional dumping and other criminal activities.
Dumpsites are a fire hazard particularly in the hot summer weather. They can sometimes heat up as a result of the decomposition process and spontaneously combust. Broken glass either in dry grass in the campo or on dumped garden waste or furniture may also catch fire. Many devastating fires in parts of Spain have begun this way.
Large household items can be taken to the Ecoparque or left adjacent to your closest Garden Waste Skip or phone the Mobile Collection service on 968 333 294 to arrange collection.

We all ha
ve a duty of care over our waste, even after it has left our home or premises. If you or your business pay someone to remove your waste – a man with a van, builders, gardeners or other tradespeople make sure you know where your waste will go.
Next month, we’ll be talking about the Environmental Impact.
