Three group members made the journey to Ibiza to compete in the Campeonato Autonomico Baleares. Held over two days and hosted by Club Nautico Santa Eulalia, the result was another win for Spanish National Champion Guillermo Beltri. Runner-up was IOM designer and builder Pepe Vinaixa from Valencia. Mid fleet finishes saw our guys come away with heads held high; eleventh place for Stuart Lockwood, twelfth for Terry Morden with Dave Shepherd close behind in fifteenth. Well done lads!

As reported in the last issue the group was invited to take part in the Fiesta de Deporte Murcia held at Fofo Park in the regional capital on March 10th. Thanks to Carlos from the Centro de Actividades Nauticas San Pedro, who liaised with the Regional organisers, several members spent an enjoyable morning demonstrating not only IOMs, but also a Laser (a scaled down version of the real thing) and the smaller Micro Magic design. It was a great opportunity to showcase our hobby in front of a wider audience.

Our Mar Menor Cup series final result was a win for Stuart, with Terry and Dave in second and third place respectively. New member Juan Parraga in his first season improved week by week to finish the competition in fourth place overall; a great result. Juan is definitely a skipper to watch as we begin competition for the Spring Cup.

Photographs accompanying this month’s report were all taken at Fofo Park. If you missed that event, why not come along to Lo Pagan on Wednesday mornings to see Radio Controlled Yachts in action? If you contact us first we will happily arrange to meet you.
