The competition will have 5 categories and there is the option of participating in two different categories
On the weekend of May 14 to 16, the I Paddle Tennis Tournament will be held in the municipal courts of Mazarrón and Puerto for the benefit of the Mazarrón Animal Protection Association (APROAMA). The competition will start with the first matches on Friday the 14th in the afternoon, it will continue on Saturday throughout the day and on Sunday morning the finals will be played.
The tournament will have 5 categories, Infantile, Senior, Male, Female and Mixed. Those interested have the possibility to participate in two different categories. In addition, a partner will be sought to compete with those who do not have one. The games in the Children’s category will take place on the courts in the Port and will have monitors for the little ones. The rest of the categories will play the duels on the Mazarrón courts.
In the Children’s category, the donation for participating will be € 10. In the Senior, Male, Female and Mixed categories, the contribution will have a price of € 15 per participant, and registration in two categories will cost € 25. For each entry, a shirt, a sports bag and a number will be given away for a raffle, carried out by the sponsors of the competition, and the winners of the first and second place in each category will receive a trophy. The tournament will comply with all the sanitary regulations imposed against covid19.
Francisco José García, Councillor for Sports, encouraged “everyone to participate, because this is a good initiative to help animals and also have a good time within sports following all health measures.” Isabel Navarro, representative of APROAMA gave thanks to “the different collaborators and the Mazarrón City Council for their support to carry out this tournament” while the Councillor for Animal Welfare, Silvia García, thanked APROAMA for ” their great work and commitment to animal welfare ”and encouraged“ both athletes and fans to participate for this good cause ”.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, also encourages citizens “to participate in this initiative that has a solidarity purpose supporting the APROAMA association that is carrying out outstanding work in our municipality in terms of protection and defense of animals and ”, the municipal councillor continued,“ through this tournament, we can help them ”.
