God Is Hopeless

Did you know that one of the things God doesn’t have is Hope. Another thing God doesn’t have is Surprise…but that is another story.

God is Hopeless. How can it be?

Well, quite simply, according to the Bible, God knows the end from the beginning. “..for I am God, and there is no other; I am God and there is no one like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done.” Isaiah 46 v 10.

There is absolutely no point in arguing that God had to call an emergency board meeting when Adam and Eve both succumbed to Satan. Neither did He have to suddenly adjust His plans when Abraham impatiently fathered a child with his servant girl, or indeed when the apple of His eye, David, committed adultery and murder resulting in Solomon being born. God was not fazed by the fact that the Jewish nation repeatedly walked away from Him and His offer of safety and salvation. Neither was His hope dashed when the people of Israel rejected His only Son Jesus and eventually manipulated the Romans to crucify Him. He certainly did not for a moment doubt that He could raise His Son from the dead. There were no fingers crossed, or salt thrown over the shoulder, or any such similar vague trust in something being a possibility or hoped for, but not guaranteed.

“For in Hope we were saved. NowHope that is seen is not Hope. For who Hopes for what is seen? If we Hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” Romans 8 v 24, 25.

I think you will agree we have established God is Hopeless, but He wants OUR Hope to be simply waiting with patience.
