I am sitting here writing this on a cold November evening and I am amazed at how quickly this year has gone; it seems to have just flown by.
It’s a bit different from when we were children and time seemed to just drag on and on and nothing seemed to happen quickly enough. (How many more sleeps until Christmas?)
I remember when I was young I wanted to be older and now I am, I wonder where my life went! I do however now know the real meaning of Christmas and now I know that Jesus is the reason for the season. Christians are not afraid to say Happy Christmas because Jesus being born was a happy occasion for mankind. It is not Happy Xmas or Happy Holidays.
Yes, it is the season of giving and sharing of the story. Our Saviour Jesus Christ was born in a humble stable and the wise men laid gifts before Him, but the greatest gift of all was the love that shone all around on that glorious morning.
Luke 2 verses 10 & 11
10 And the angel said unto them, “Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”
11 “For unto you is born this day in the City of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
The rest of the Christmas Story is told in the rest of Luke Chapter 2.
“It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you. Yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand.”—Mother Teresa (1910–1997)
Keep Christ in Christmas, but remember also that He died on the cross to pay for our sins past, present and future, so don’t make the mistake of thinking that Jesus is a baby in a manger. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Very Happy Christmas and a Blessed 2020.
