Although we don’t have extreme weather conditions in this magical part of the world, it is nice to actually feel the arrival of Spring and with it a new, albeit slow and prudent, return to normality.

To begin with, an announcement on COVID-19 Vaccinations:

COVID vaccinations are taking place at the Camposol Consultorio (Doctor’s surgery) on Sector A. They are being administered in strict rotation according to the Regional vaccination protocol, therefore please DO NOT VISIT OR TELEPHONE THE CONSULTORIO TO REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT

You or your registered translator will be contacted by phone when your vaccination is available and an appointment will be made.

At the time of writing, supplies were limited to the over 80’s, as the rotation system starts with the oldest first working backward. The Councillor for Camposol, Silvana Buxton is at hand to assist in overcoming the language barrier, if necessary.

According to the Regional Health Authority it is hoped that the vaccination roll-out will be extended to the 70 to 79 age group; again starting with the oldest first in the mid to end of April, but this will depend on the supply and success of the current age programme. The next group to receive the vaccine will be people from 60 to 69 years of age and so on.

The message from the Consultorio is to be patient – you will be contacted when your dose is available, but it is important NOT TO VISIT OR PHONE THE CONSULTORIO TO REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT AS THIS COULD SLOW DOWN THE PROCCESS.

The staff are working as fast as possible to ensure the procedure is expedited in as short a time span as possible.

The organiser of the Children’s Christmas Gift Appeal writes:

The 2020 event was extremely successful thanks to the amazing generosity of the people of Camposol and surrounding areas.  Work has started for Christmas 2021 and donations of wool, material, good (but perhaps torn) canvas material, would be gratefully received at the Social Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays 10am-12noon – COVID permitting. We pass on grateful thanks for giving 92 children a wonderful Three Kings.

Finally – an insight into your Councillor’s work:

Since June 2019, Silvana has been available to assist with health and safety issues, Social Services intervention, Brexit information, COVID-19 measures.

Services enjoyed by residents include: prompt Police assistance, regular collection of garden waste and unwanted items of furniture, cutting of palm trees in B, C & D, ongoing repair to pot-holes, water leaks and street lights where possible.

Major achievements include the children’s play area in Camposol A, and the 5-a-side football pitch in Camposol D.

Projects for the future include the legalisation and provision of street lights on public roads, a solution to the rambla issue, lifting of the suspension of licences to build and issuing of  Certificates of Habitation, information and advice on Community of Owners, annual gardening contract, repositioning of Telefonica boxes, easier access to pedestrian bridge for wheelchairs and many more.

Take care, stay safe and have a wonderful Easter.
