From this Monday, Spanish government will test a new mobile phone emergency alert system.

The ES-Alert technology, known as the 112, is integrated into the National Alert Network and allows Civil Protection authorities to send widespread and immediate alert messages to mobile phones located in an area affected by an emergency or disaster.

From this Monday tests will be sent to different regions on different days, with 2nd November being designated to Murcia region.

Phones that receive the alert will hear their device whistle and vibrate until the user confirms receipt of the test message by pressing “aceptar” option on the device.

It is NOT an alarm, it is a test. Do not call 112.
