Stay Safe And Keep Bowling

Now autumn has arrived, competitive bowling has begun, starting with the Mazarron Trophy which was held at the end of September. This was the first competition to be played since COVID-19 lockdown. The morning started with a ‘spider drive’ with the prize being won by Keith Salter. A Drawn Pairs match was played using the 1-1-2 format which comprises of two single games over eight ends and a pairs game over ten ends with two points awarded to the winner and one point for a draw in each game. The Overall Winner is the team with the most points. A fun morning with lovely weather was had by all with Mandy Wright and Colin Appleton receiving the trophy, with second place won by Barbara Male and Brian Wright.
Club Championships 2020 Presentation
The presentation and lunch had to be cancelled in March because of COVID-19, but at long last we had an outdoor presentation held at the club grounds with social distancing in place. It was good to see members coming together and congratulating the winners receiving their trophies.

A special trophy went to Gill Appleton for being the most improved player in the club, which was well deserved.
All winners received a trophy to keep and finalists received a medal on a ribbon. Hotshot certificates and badges were at long last awarded to Sylvia Logue, Frank Quinton and Brian Carter who won these last October during an LLB League game at home against El Rancho, when on one end all of the teams woods scored giving them maximum points of nine; a great achievement against a strong club.
The Valencian Championships was played with strict protocol for COVID-19 with six disciplines being played, as mixed fours was dropped due to the safety of players. Well done to all the winners.

The MBC Home Winter Triples game is planned for Tuesdays and a new game, Sets League is arranged for Fridays in place of the LLB League which MBC have not entered this year.
The Club Championship 2021 rounds are underway too, so at long last whilst it is possible to play, we are busy out on the rinks!
MBC have added temperature-taking as members enter the club’s enclosure along with the generic protocol sanitizing for COVID-19 to keep members as safe as possible.
MBC roll-up every Tuesday and Thursday 10am for 10.30am and we welcome new members to come along.
