2021 Club Championship Finals

Happy Easter to all our members and readers, who will find that this year’s Easter celebrations in Spain will be very different due to COVID-19 restrictions. Easter is a bigger event than Christmas in Spain and covers several days.
COVID-19 lockdown has caused a stop/start approach to our bowling. As MBC home rink is in the Fuente Alamo municipality and has had more weeks of lock down than Mazarrón where most of our members live, we have been unable to bowl as often as we would have liked, making the annual rounds of the Club Championships a bit of a roller coaster and then the wet weather came and joined the lockdown over the weekend of the planned Championships, but Colin Appleton our Competition Secretary and a member of the Club Championship committee worked hard to reorganise the schedules so that the Championship Finals could happen over a four day event from 11th-14th March. The sun came out, the rinks had been cleaned by the rain and all the players were able to play.
There were nine disciplines this year. Mixed rinks were not included as the COVID-19 protocol restrictions made it difficult to have eight players on one rink.
