MABS Mazarrón Cancer Support Fundación
Yet again a huge thank you to everyone who has helped by donating much needed money, furniture, clothes, bric-a-brac etc. that is the lifeblood of our fund raising in our Totana shop. All money raised is used to help those of any nationality locally diagnosed with cancer.
What we do
As a Cancer Support Fundación, MABS is available to anyone of any nationality who needs help as a result of:
- Being diagnosed with cancer.
- Affected by a spouse or partner having cancer.
- Bereavement due to cancer.
- Needs respite from spouse or partner with cancer.
In May MABS assisted with:
- 113 Appointments
- 106 Translations
- 26 Drives to hospital
- 6 Loans of equipment
Year to date to the end of May:
- 526 Appointments
- 490 Translations
- 158 Drives to hospital
- 36 Loans of equipment
MABS are here to help and are only a phone call away.
All money raised helps us to provide:
- Drivers to take patients to and from hospitals
- Translators to ensure the diagnosis is fully understood
- Home Carers to provide additional care when needed
- Respite and Hospice care
- Medical equipment on loan to patients
- 1-2-1 Counsellors
What’s new? Visit from the British Ambassador
We are very proud that the British Ambassador, Hugh Elliot, found time in his busy schedule to visit the Respite Home during his visit to Mazarrón in June.
Quiz at Rendezvous
Started in June – a regular Quiz Night at Rendezvous, Camposol A
Every Sunday 5pm-7pm. €5 to reserve a seat, quiz menu included:
*Burgers* – plain, cheese, chicken or vegetarian
*Baps* – pulled pork, beef or pork
*Jacket potatoes* – tuna mayo, cheese, beans, chicken curry or chilli con carne
Plus a raffle in aid of MABS Cancer Support
At the time of writing after two weeks this has raised 319€
Raffle at The Diner
With the Table Top Sale being cancelled, Sue and her team at The Diner organised a lunch and raffle in aid of MABS raising a much needed 136€.
Respite Home
Our Respite Home on Avenida Los Cavachos, Camposol B is dedicated to the first class provision of Respite and Hospice Care, with 24 hour care being given to residents by two legally registered Care Agencies.
MABS Shop in Totana
We rely on donations from you!
Clothes, bric-a-brac, furniture and larger items etc. donated by you are sold in our shop in Totana at Avenida Juan Carlos I. Take the first exit at the first roundabout coming into Totana from the RM3.
We still urgently need furniture, clothes and bric-a-brac to sell to raise funds.
Can you spare a few hours a week?
Our Volunteers work hard to meet the demands, but we need more people to lighten the load. We are particularly short of patient drivers and fundraisers, but if you can help in any capacity and have a few hours spare each week please get in touch at: mazvolunteers@mabscancerfoundation.com or call into our Respite Home on Camposol B.
Help us to Help you
MABS have donation ‘boxes’ for clothes, bric a brac, books etc. in Alley Palais, Camposol B; The Club House, Camposol C and MABS Respite Home.
Collections:
For furniture and larger items, our van runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for the collection of furniture etc.
