COVID fails to stop the MABS Annual Race for Life
This year, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to host the 15th annual race in its usual format and initially thought we would have to abandon it like so many of our other fundraising events, but after a flash of inspiration we decided to try a ‘virtual´ race whereby runners and walkers undertook a 4km run at their leisure and in an environment that they felt safe.
We were a little dubious at first, but we had nothing to lose and we never should have doubted the tremendous support of our community, with supporters taking part from the UK as well as Spain and together they helped us raise an amazing 6765.98€

As you know, the ongoing COVID restrictions have forced our Totana shop to be closed for a considerable period of time and our fundraising events have had to be cancelled, so this money is a huge boost to our funds.

MABS Cancer Support Fundación is currently assisting 102 local patients by providing:
- Transport to and from hospitals.
- Translators to attend hospital and clinic appointments.
- Nurses and Carers to help in the patients´ own homes.
- 1-2-1 Counselling.
- Loan of Equipment (hospital beds, wheelchairs, walking aids and other personal care aids).
- 24hr Care in our Respite Home
MABS Cancer Support Fundación is a registered charity providing help and practical support to local people who have been affected by cancer. Although legally registered, they do not receive any local or central government funding. All of the services they provide are paid for from fundraising events including Race for Life, our Charity Shop and donations.
