It was another glorious day for a game of golf and 24 players had a great day at Lorca. First tee at 10am meant that everyone had plenty of time for a coffee and a chat about how good they were playing (or not!).
The first group arrived at the tee to find another four ball not with us also saying they were booked for a 10am start and with some slow play in front it looked to be a long day. On many of the tees it was stand and wait for most of us.
The game was a single Stableford, but the overall winners would be a secret pairs’ competition. Some big drives are needed on most of the holes, as the ravines will swallow your ball if you don’t make a good contact. The greens were also quite fast, but the fairways, if you could stay on them, were perfect. Some great golf was played with over half the players scoring twenty eight points or more.
The eventual draw was made by club captain Neil Macfarlane. With the pairings scores added together it produced a tie; two teams with 66 points. Being the fun day it was, each of the four players took a 15ft putt into a cup with Richard making the putt.
