Monday July 9th saw Los Reyes at GKN’s resort El Valle. We expected the usual high standard set by GKN and was not disappointed. The course was in excellent condition; tees, fairways and greens were immaculate. If you’ve never played El Valle, give it a go!
We welcomed two new members; David Hudson and Colin Meridith. David presented the society with a Garmin Approach S10 worth £125 to be used as a prize on our charity day in October at Aguilon.
Although overcast, it was still a warm and sticky day, so the selection of cold drinks delivered to all parts of the course supplied by the Society was most welcome. Individual Stableford was the order of the day and despite the conditions of the course, scoring was unusually low.
Division 1 winner with 36pts was Glenn Read, whilst in Division 2 Phil Linton took the prize with 27pts.
Nearest the Pin winners were Paul Davis, Ian Quigley, Capt. Neil MacFarlane and Alan Benton.
How do you score 5 points on one hole? Well if your name is Richard Dixon you do the following ‘Cream a drive up the middle, then from 136mts hit the perfect 7 iron into the hole for an Eagle two’. This was on the par 4 10th hole and being a shot hole for Richard it meant a 2 net I for 5 points.
We have a break in August due to the heat and the fact that 3 committee members are away on holiday. Our next outing is on Monday September 9th at another of our favourite courses, Altorreal.
