The month of March has not been good gardening weather!! Good for the weeds which have virtually shot up overnight. Even the Spanish locals have not known the wet weather go on for so long and the strange orange sky earlier in the month was weird and a bit scary. The red rain followed, and the jet washers and mop and buckets were out in force.
Unfortunately, due to the bad weather we were unable to open the library on a couple of Fridays during March, but we are now open regularly and hopefully, fingers crossed, will continue as normal from now on. Our library is run by our volunteers who have a rota and is open every Friday from 10 am to 12.30 pm. Please come along and have a look at our vast collection of books. We also have jigsaw puzzles and many autobiographies and reference books on various subjects.
As the weather improved, we were able to have our “Blitz” clean up. This is when our volunteers get together and concentrate on one area on a Sunday morning. This month we worked on the Memorial Garden, cutting overgrown trees, weeding, and pruning.
We had our second Ladies Lunch in April and although the weather was terrible with heavy rain, we enjoyed a nice lunch at the Fiesta on A.
Plans are now well under way for our Jubilee Summer Ball which is on Friday 3rd June at La Cumbre Hotel. We have entertainment provided by Rees. Cava on arrival with a three-course dinner with drinks provided during the meal all for 40Ä a ticket. We hope you have seen our posters and that you will join us. We have had a good response with a good number of tickets sold and reserved. Tickets are on sale with Mr Print situated on A Commercial Centre. After the past couple of years with all the restrictions it will be good to get dressed up and party.
We are always looking for new volunteers. If you would like to join our group please contact us either by email or via our mailbox.
We thank everyone for your continued support.
