We had a busy year in 2019 with a change of Chairman and a new committee who are now working well together.
We had a donation of nearly 100 beautiful plants from a lovely lady in Puerto de Mazarrón, Carmen Martín Bascón. These are now established in and around the Memorial Park and they look wonderful. We have improved the area with fresh stones and grit and managed to complete the work prior to another well attended and successful Remembrance Service in November.
The Library has had an overhaul following feedback from our regular library users and our customers seem very happy with these changes, so we thank them for helping us with the improvements. We have installed CCTV and by the time this article is published, solar lighting should have been installed on the steps to the Correos building.
At Christmas we transformed the Library cabin into Santa’s Grotto for the local children. Our very own Camposol Santa Claus and his darling wife (aka Iain & Barbara Mayoll) were just amazing. We had over 30 children visiting Santa and will most definitely be repeating this in 2020.
We started 2020 with a bang and have reintroduced our Sunday Blitzes. This is where we choose an area that requires some extra care and attention and meet up on the first Sunday of the month to get to work. Everyone is most welcome to join us. Please see our Facebook page for updates if you would like to help us. So far we have worked on People’s Park and Memorial Park where we pruned back, weeded and generally tidied the areas. Our next blitz is on Sunday 1st March on Central Park at 9.30am. This is a long term plan that may take many years to complete but we have to start somewhere! Please come and join us if you can. There will be free refreshments for those taking part (must be pre-arranged through our group email or via Facebook)
On Friday May 22nd we have a May Dance with the fabulous Karen Noble at Restaurante Mesón Mariano, affectionately known as Mariano’s. Tickets are 10€ with an optional Menu del Noche for an extra 12€ pp.
