For people who have not lived here long I thought it would be an idea to give you some background on how our group came into being. It began about 16 years ago when the late Steve Horne contacted likeminded residents, and they formed a work party to go out and clean up the area. The open park areas that you see today were weed ridden wildernesses. There was no landscaping and certainly no road cleaning!! The groupcleared the areas and planted shrubs and plants. Initially all equipment was provided by the volunteers at their expense.
As time went on the group became more organised with a members list and a committee elected to oversee the group. We began to organise fund raising events to pay for our equipment. And eventually we had sufficient money to purchase our Jeep and trailer which we need to clear the garden waste.
We now have 44 members in the group. Not all live here on a permanent basis. Some have holiday homes and help when they visit.
We are a Garden & Community Group, so it is not all weeding and pruning!!! We are always grateful for new members who can do as much or as little as they want. We have a rota for the library which is open every Friday from 10 am to 12.30 pm.
Following our last AGM in January we set up a Social Committee within the group. We plan to organise events and get togethers. We have started a Ladies Lunch Group and had our first lunch in February which proved highly successful.
Our current project is organising a Jubilee Summer Ball. This will be at La Cumbre Hotel on Friday 3rd June. There will be a glass of Cava upon arrival followed by a 3-course meal with wine, beer or soft drinks provided throughout the meal. Entertainment provided by Rees. Tickets are on sale through Mr Print at Sector A Commercial Centre, Camposol. Tickets are 40€. Everybody welcome.
If you want to contact us, you can email at lospalociosgardening@icloud.com or we have a mailbox in the post room on Camposol A under number 915.
We thank you all for your continued support.
