Vaquero the podenco arrived in November last year with his back leg curled up.

He’d hop around and adopt a strange stance to pee. He still wanted to go for walks with the volunteers and he was happy to be fussed and wagged his tail. X-rays showed he’d been shot. Thirteen times, with two different guns. Such cruelty is beyond belief. Bullets were in his bone, muscle and flesh.

He deserved the chance of a normal life and an appeal was put out to fund his operation.

The response was amazing, it wasn’t long before he was booked in. Upon release from the vet, he needed a calm environment with lots of care and attention and this is where our Sue came in. A very dedicated volunteer and devoted foster mum to many, Sue and her husband Paul take our needy dogs home, administer medication and ferry them to and from the vets.

Progress was slow and steady, he has been on painkillers, endured physiotherapy and one day he could barely put his foot down and still looked in pain, then the next he would walk on it nearly all morning.

He has had laser treatment at the vet to aid his recovery and the photos show his X-rays and how his leg was on arrival, and now, chilling in the garden with his fellow foster dog Rex.

Happy to say, he’s now available for adoption. He gets on well with other dogs, doesn’t care for cats. He’s around three years old and despite what he’s been through, he’s the gentlest and most loving dog you could wish for.

Please email us or send a message via our Facebook Page if you’d like to give our brave little cowboy a home.

Hunter – Breed Pointer

Male

Dob 22/05/2018

Hunter is a magnificent looking dog; he is a pointer so he is a big boy. Volunteers report he walks well on the lead and responds well to commands and gives no problems with other dogs but he could do with a big garden to run around in.

Macarena – Breed Mastin

Female

Age 6 Years Approx

Macarena is good with other dogs and cats, but very nervous in the shelter. She walks well, typical Mastin, a laid back “plodder”.

Otto – Mixed Breed

Male

Dob 30/02/2019

Otto is a strong lively lad who is brilliant to walk, not particularly good with other dogs, nor cats.  He loves his treats. He’s just a young dog, he needs to be out of the shelter and in a home of his own. He has sponsorship towards his travel to UK and Europe of 200€ as he’s been with us over a year now.

Our PayPal address is losinfiernosdogs@gmail.com and by using the FRIENDS AND FAMILY OPTION (very important), we get the full donation. We accept donations in Euros and Sterling. Any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated.

For details of available dogs contact the shelter via the Facebook page Los Infiernos Protectora Supporters, or by email losinfiernosdogs@gmail.com, or our new web site https://losinfiernos.wixsite.com/lips.

Dog walkers are always needed. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 9am until 1pm. We especially need walkers who are experienced with the bigger stronger dogs.

You can usually tell that a man is good if he has a dog who loves him.
