Another hot summer’s day was in store for the members of Los Amigos GS as we set out for our monthly competition on Monday 5th August at Roda, with temperatures in the high 30’s and humidity levels around 90%.
As a Society, we had not visited Roda for over two years, so to many new members it was a new experience. It must be said the course was in excellent condition with numerous ground staff working in various locations.
The competition format was a team game with a Yellow Ball allocated to each team. Providing the Yellow Ball was retained during the game, each member using it received double points on that particular hole. Unfortunately only two teams managed to keep the Yellow Ball for the whole competition. There were several different strategies applied in order to take full advantage of the double points available. One such strategy applied was one particular team Captain played the Yellow Ball on the third hole in order to play the Par 3 seventh island green. The idea might have worked had he not lost the ball on the third!

Hole 7: at 6.65 metres – Arthur Anthoney.
Hole 11: No winner.
Hole 13: at 90 cms – Les Jales.
